Four free links don’t make one editing project
You may want to split 20 GB into four separate 5 GB transfers. The free transfer limit is 5 GB. That doesn’t work for an editing project. If the main film is under one link, the music under another, and the subtitles under a third, the project won’t open. The recipient also can’t keep track of which part has expired.
We don’t combine the files from those four links into one folder. Don’t split them in the first place.
| Method | A 20 GB editing project |
|---|---|
| Four free transfers | Structure breaks up; files are not reassembled |
| Email attachment | Cannot be sent |
| Shared drive | Account and ongoing access |
| SendGB Exceed 50 GB | One link, €2.99 |
| SendGB Extra | Regular deliveries, up to 1 year |
The example above is 24 GB: the main film, B-roll, music, subtitles, and notes. Everything is under editing/. There is one link.
Folder structure matters at this size
20 GB is often not a single file. It is an editing folder. Folder names are preserved when the entire transfer is downloaded. Files are not recompressed. Clicking an individual file downloads only that file; it does not recreate the folder.
| File | Example | If misplaced |
|---|---|---|
| Main film | 16 GB | Project won’t open |
| B-roll | 6.4 GB | Edit is incomplete |
| Music WAV | 1.6 GB | Delivered without sound |
| Subtitles | 2 MB | We don’t embed them in the video |
| Notes | A few KB | Version information is lost |
Folder rules are on the send folders page. For a single 10 GB video, see files over 10 GB. If the raw footage on your memory card exceeds 50 GB, see files over 50 GB.
How far does a one-time 50 GB transfer go?
SendGB Exceed 50 GB easily handles 20 GB. It also handles 49 GB. It does not handle card contents over 50 GB. No membership is required. It costs €2.99. The code can be used once and is valid for 1 year. SendGB Exceed transfers stay available for 7 days.
| Total | SendGB Exceed 50 GB | SendGB Extra |
|---|---|---|
| 24 GB editing project | Enough | Better suited to regular transfers |
| 40 GB backup | Enough | Depends on the plan |
| Over 50 GB | Not enough | Depends on the plan, or use SendGB Exceed 200 GB |
| 20 GB every week | Pay again each time | From €29.90 per year |
| More than 2,500 files | Limit reached | Same limit, 2,500 |
SendGB Extra keeps files for up to 1 year. Storage goes up to 1 TB, depending on the plan. The per-transfer limit is up to 500 GB, depending on the plan.
Small files can hit the file count limit
If an editing folder contains thousands of preview frames, file count—not size—limits the transfer. SendGB Extra and SendGB Exceed stop at 2,500 files. A few large films won’t reach that count. Leave the small frames out of the transfer. If you put them in a single ZIP archive, we don’t extract it.
| What you’re sending | Limit you run into |
|---|---|
| Five large editing files | Size; 20 GB fits in the package |
| 4,000 small frames | 2,500 files |
| One 6 GB backup, split into four | No reassembly |
| 80 GB raw footage card | SendGB Exceed 50 GB is not enough |
If you enter your email address, you receive one notification when downloading starts. It does not confirm that the editing project has been opened. Don’t split 20 GB across four links.
How to send

Frequently asked questions
Can I split 20 GB into four free transfers?
Don’t split it. The free limit is 5 GB. Four links mean four separate expiration dates and four separate risks of missing files. We don’t reassemble the parts. The recipient ends up with a fragmented folder.
Which package can handle 20 GB?
For a one-time transfer, use SendGB Exceed 50 GB. It costs €2.99. No membership is required. The code can be used once and is valid for 1 year. SendGB Exceed transfers stay available for 7 days. 20 GB is below this limit. Anything over 50 GB will not fit. Free transfers up to 250 MB stay available for up to 90 days. Free transfers over 250 MB stay available for 7 days.
Are editing files compressed?
No. The main film, B-roll, and music download as they are. We don’t convert WAV to MP3. We don’t embed subtitles in the video. We don’t change the resolution.
Is the folder structure preserved?
Folder names are preserved when the entire transfer is downloaded. Files are not recompressed. Downloading a single video does not recreate the folder. Empty folders cannot be uploaded.
How many files can I include?
SendGB Extra and SendGB Exceed support up to 2,500 files. A few large editing files won’t hit that limit. Thousands of small preview frames might. In that case, you can remove the small frames or put the files in a single archive. We don’t extract the archive.
When should I switch to SendGB Extra?
When every transfer is 20 GB. It starts at €29.90 per year. Depending on your plan, you can send up to 500 GB per transfer. Storage goes up to 1 TB. SendGB Extra keeps files for up to 1 year. For a single editing project, SendGB Exceed is enough.
Can I send this folder as an email attachment?
No. The attachment size limit is 25 MB in Gmail and about 20 MB in Outlook. A 20 GB file cannot be sent as an attachment. There is no add-on. You paste the link into the message yourself.
How is this different from 10 GB?
Both fit in SendGB Exceed 50 GB. 10 GB is often a single video. 20 GB is often a folder: film, B-roll, and music. Splitting it causes more problems at 20 GB because it disrupts the structure.
Does a download notification mean the editing project has been opened?
No. If you enter your email address, you receive one notification when downloading starts. With email delivery, you are notified once per recipient. With link delivery, you are notified once per transfer. It does not confirm that the project has been opened.
Does 50 GB of footage use the same package?
Anything under 50 GB uses the same package. Raw footage over 50 GB does not fit in SendGB Exceed 50 GB. That threshold has its own page. No package supports more than 1 TB in a single transfer.
Don’t split a folder over 20 GB. Send the download link.
A 24 GB editing project goes under one link with SendGB Exceed 50 GB. Don’t create four separate free transfers.
