Discord’s free file size limit is about 25 MB
On a free Discord account, the attachment size limit is about 25 MB. A 1.2 GB game package is well above that limit. Nitro raises the limit. Files sent with Nitro are still stored on the server. If the server is deleted, the file may disappear too.
Nitro is not our product. You can send 1.8 GB without it.

Nitro keeps the file on the server
Nitro raises the attachment limit. The file is still sent through Discord. Anyone who can see the channel can also see the file if they have permission. The SendGB download link has its own expiration date. For free transfers, it stays available for 7 days. The recipient does not need Nitro.

Add a password to files shared in public channels
If a test build’s link is in a public channel, anyone who sees the link can download the file. Add a password to the file. Don’t include the password in the same message. Use a channel that fewer people can access. Send the password separately from the link.

Can I send 1.8 GB for free without Nitro?
You can send a file this size for free. The file is stored for 7 days. Discord’s 25 MB limit and the higher limit with Nitro do not determine SendGB’s limits.

Don’t drag the game file into Discord. You can send the 1.8 GB file without signing up. You don’t need Nitro for this.

Paste the link into the relevant channel. Don’t send the file as an attachment. Don’t share the password on a public server.

The recipient downloads
The recipient downloads from the link without creating a Discord account. A browser is enough. The link stays available for 7 days. Free transfers up to 250 MB stay available for up to 90 days. The contents of the ZIP file are not displayed.
What happens to your file?
- The package exceeds Discord’s 25 MB attachment limit.
- You don’t need to buy Nitro.
- Deleting the Discord server does not delete the file. The file has its own retention period.
- If you entered your email address, you receive one notification when the download starts.
What we don’t do
- There is no Discord bot. We don’t upload files to Discord servers.
- We don’t set Nitro’s file size limit.
- Anyone who sees the link in a public channel can download the file.

What is the Discord file size limit?
Free accounts have an attachment limit of about 25 MB. Nitro raises the limit. Discord may change the limit. That’s why a 1.2 GB package won’t go through as an attachment. You don’t have to buy Nitro, either.
Can’t I send the original file with Nitro?
Nitro raises the attachment limit. The file is still stored on the Discord server. If the server or channel is deleted, the file may be deleted too. The file shared by link is not stored on the Discord server. The free link stays available for 7 days. Nitro’s fee is not included in SendGB plans.
Do I need to install a bot?
No. There is no bot that posts files to the channel. You paste the link yourself.
Does the recipient need a Discord account?
No. A browser is enough. The recipient downloads from the link without creating a Discord or SendGB account. You can send them the link through Discord.
Is sending 1.8 GB free?
Yes. It’s below the 5 GB limit. No signup is needed. Discord’s 25 MB limit does not determine this limit. Transfers over 5 GB require SendGB Extra or SendGB Exceed.
Can I preview the ZIP file?
No. We don’t open or install the game package. The full promo video does not play on the page like a movie. The cover PNG may be visible. The version note may open if it is a short text file.
Can I share the password on a public server?
No. Anyone who sees the link can download the file. Add a password to a test build. Don’t include the password in the channel post.
How is this different from Slack?
Slack stores the file in the workspace and often limits individual files to around 1 GB. Discord’s free attachment limit is about 25 MB. Nitro raises it. Both platforms store the file on their side. On either platform, a shared download link has an expiration date. There is no bot.
Does a download notification mean the game was installed?
No. If you entered your email address, you receive a notification when the download starts. With email delivery, you are notified once per recipient. With link delivery, you are notified once per transfer. This notification does not confirm that the game was installed.
Will the file be deleted if the server is deleted?
A file uploaded to Discord may disappear with the server. The file shared by link is independent of the server. The free link stays available for 7 days. SendGB Extra keeps files for up to 1 year. Annual pricing starts at €29.90.
