How to send large files through Yahoo Mail beyond its 25 MB limit
Like Gmail, Yahoo Mail has an attachment size limit of about 25 MB. A catalog, price sheet, cover, logo, and note together total about 55 MB. Email cannot send that much as an attachment. Zipping the files will not reduce their total size below 25 MB, either.
There is no transfer button to install inside Yahoo. Write your message. Paste the link.
| Method | 55 MB catalog |
|---|---|
| Yahoo attachment | Blocked |
| Reducing photo size | Print quality suffers |
| Yahoo app | None |
| Shared drive | Account and ongoing access |
| Link | Free, available for up to 90 days |
The example above includes a catalog, cover, price sheet, logo, and note.
A link is not an attachment in Yahoo Mail, either
An attached file is part of the message. Yahoo Mail does not allow files over its attachment limit to be sent. A link takes up a few lines. The file is on the download page. The recipient does not have to use Yahoo.
| Yahoo attachment | Pasted link | |
|---|---|---|
| Size limit | About 25 MB | Free up to 5 GB |
| Catalog | Cannot be sent | Downloads unchanged |
| Recipient account | Their email account | No additional account |
| Compression | Reducing it to fit hurts quality | None |
| Availability | In the mailbox | 90 days up to 250 MB, 7 days above that |
Do not put the password next to the link in the same message.
Yahoo Mail does not have Gmail’s Drive option
Gmail may suggest moving a large attachment to its own storage. Yahoo Mail does not handle this the same way. The file is either sent or rejected. A link is the third option. The file is not uploaded to Yahoo’s storage and does not count against your Google storage quota.
| Gmail | Yahoo Mail | Link | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Attachment limit | 25 MB | About 25 MB | None |
| Large-file suggestion | Drive | Usually none | You paste the link |
| Extension | None | None | None |
| Recipient | Does not create an account | Does not create an account | Downloads from the link without creating an account |

You do not need a paid plan for 55 MB
A file this size can be sent for free. No sign-up is required. The link stays available for up to 90 days. Catalogs over 5 GB or frequent transfers require a separate plan.

| 55 MB catalog | Cannot be sent | Free |
| 2 GB | Cannot be sent | Free |

If you entered your email address, you receive one notification when the download starts. This does not confirm that the catalog has been reviewed. Do not attach the file in Yahoo Mail.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Yahoo Mail attachment size limit?
Yahoo Mail’s attachment size limit is about 25 MB. A 55 MB catalog exceeds that limit. The limit may change over time. Even if it changes, a large catalog cannot be sent as an attachment. Use a link.
Do I need to install a Yahoo app?
No. We do not add an extension inside Yahoo Mail. You create the transfer on the website, then paste the link into your message.
Does the recipient need a Yahoo email address?
No. The link also opens in Gmail, Outlook, or a phone’s email app. The recipient downloads from the link and does not create a Yahoo or SendGB account.
Can I preview the catalog on the download page?
A PDF may open. Very large PDF files can slow down the browser. An Excel file does not open as a table on the page. We do not convert the file.
Do you reduce photo sizes?
No. The cover and logo download at the size you selected. Pasting a photo into a Yahoo Mail message may cause additional compression. Do not use that method.
Does Yahoo Mail have the same attachment size limit as Gmail?
Both have an attachment size limit of about 25 MB. Gmail may suggest moving a large file to its own Drive storage. Yahoo does not do this the same way. In both, the solution is a link instead of an attachment.
Should I put the password in the message?
Do not put it next to the link. Send the password separately from the link.
How long do files stay available?
Because the file is under 250 MB, the link stays available for up to 90 days. Free transfers over 250 MB stay available for 7 days. SendGB Extra keeps files for up to 1 year. Annual pricing starts at €29.90. It is not required for 55 MB.
Will I receive a download notification?
Yes, if you entered your email address. With email delivery, you are notified once per recipient. With link delivery, you are notified once per transfer. This does not confirm that the catalog has been read.
Can I send it to multiple recipients?
You can send the link to each person in a separate message. The file is uploaded once. With email delivery, you are notified once per recipient.
