TikTok turns the original into a published copy
An uploaded video is converted to match TikTok’s duration limit, screen dimensions, and compression format. The 620 MB file does not fit that format. Viewers see the short copy. If a client or editing team mistakes that copy for the source file, it causes problems.
The file is delivered through the link alongside the published video.
| Method | 640 MB transfer |
|---|---|
| TikTok upload | Converted to publishing format |
| File in a message | Does not deliver the original |
| Link in a comment, no password | Anyone who sees it can download |
| Do we access your account? | No |
| Link | The file downloads unchanged |
The example transfer above contains the original video, a cover image, the short preview you added, and two notes.
A short copy is not the source file
The 6 MB preview is for viewing. You create it. We do not automatically turn the 620 MB file into a TikTok video. The JPG cover may be displayed. The main MP4 is not played in full on the page.
| Published video | Link | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Viewing | Delivery and archiving |
| Duration | TikTok shortens it | Your video’s duration |
| Music note | Not in the video | Separate; we do not embed it |
| Account | TikTok | Browser |
| Views | TikTok’s count | Not a download notification |
Video-specific details are on the send large video files page. Instagram’s publishing rules are covered on the share original Instagram videos page.
Comments are public
Anyone who sees the link below the video can download the file. For private delivery, add a password. Do not post the password in the comment. Send the link in a private message.
| Location | Who can download |
|---|---|
| Public comment | Anyone who sees it |
| Private message | That person |
| Password-protected link | Anyone with the password |
| No TikTok account | A browser is enough |
| View | Not a download |
640 MB is not a publishing limit
A transfer this size is free. The download link remains available for 7 days. No signup is required for transfers up to 5 GB. TikTok shortens that file when publishing it. Sending it through a link does not shorten the video.
| Total | TikTok | SendGB |
|---|---|---|
| Short published video | Viewable | Original sent separately |
| 640 MB example | Does not remain the original | Free |
| 3 GB | Converted to publishing specifications | Free |
| Over 5 GB | Does not deliver the original | SendGB Extra or SendGB Exceed |
| Uploading to your account | Your responsibility | We do not access it |
Do not upload the video to TikTok as the original file. Send the link.
How to send

Add the original
Add the file you had before publishing to the upload area. Do not mistake the copy uploaded to TikTok for the original file. You can send 640 MB for free.

Frequently asked questions
Does uploading to TikTok deliver the original file?
No. TikTok converts videos to its publishing format. It shortens and compresses the video. That copy is not the file your client needs for archiving or editing.
Can I send the original video in a TikTok message?
You cannot deliver a large original file through a TikTok message either. Paste the link into the message. The file is on the download page.
Do you access my TikTok account?
No. We do not upload videos or write descriptions. There is no app that connects to TikTok.
Is a short preview required?
No. You can add a separate short copy for viewing. The example includes a 6 MB preview. We do not create a TikTok copy from the 620 MB file.
Is the music note embedded in the video?
No. The note is a separate file alongside the video. We do not embed music in the video. We do not remove copyrighted music either. You are responsible for the audio you use when publishing.
Can I share the link in a public comment?
Anyone who sees the link can download the file. For private delivery, add a password and do not post it in the comment. Send the link in a private message.
Is sending 640 MB free?
Yes. No signup is required for transfers up to 5 GB. The link stays available for 7 days. TikTok’s video duration limit does not determine how long the link stays available.
Does a view count as a download?
No. TikTok’s view count does not mean the file was downloaded. If you provided your email address, you receive one notification when the download starts. This notification does not confirm that the video was watched to the end.
Does the recipient need a TikTok account?
No. They only need a browser. The recipient downloads from the link and does not create a TikTok or SendGB account.
How is this different from Instagram?
Both platforms publish videos. Their publishing specifications differ. On both, you deliver the original file through a link. Instagram is covered on a separate page. We do not access your accounts.
Send the download link instead of uploading the video to TikTok
Publishing the original video from the 640 MB transfer on TikTok changes the file. You can send the link without signing up.
